Clik here to view.Recently, Nikon has been issued a patent for innovation about sharing the parameter information for image quality adjustment related to an electronic camera. The inventors of this patent are Naoki (Shiki, JP); Uwai, Hiroki, Matsuda, Toshiharu (Souka, JP).
An electronic camera provides image processing that gives users the ability to select the finished image quality. According to the Reference #1, the electronic camera stores a group of setting parameters in advance in correspondence to a keyword such as vivid and the like. This group of setting parameters can be used for each of white balance settings, contour accentuation, tone correction, color mode and saturation setting. When the user selects the actuation, the electronic camera interprets the group of parameters based on the keyword that had been commanded. Then, it changes the final image quality by performing the settings depending upon the parameters that were read out.
In the previous inventions, it was desired that the inventors share the parameter information for image quality adjustment for an external device. However, this has not been possible. In addition to this, it has been difficult to understand the characteristics of the finished image quality.
With this patent, it has become possible to share parameter information for image quality adjustment with an electronic camera. The summary information was also obtained from the inventors this patent:
First aspect
According to the first aspect, an electronic camera comprises of image processing unit that performs image quality adjustment by using a plurality of adjustment parameters, information acquisition unit, an image quality adjustment algorithm and a control unit. The information acquisition unit is acquired from an external device includes a parameter group for use with the image quality adjustment. The image quality adjustment algorithm applies the parameter group, and the control unit handles the image processing unit. With the control unit, the image quality adjustment is performed while applying the parameter group that was included in the first image quality adjustment information.
Second aspect
According to the second aspect, the first image quality adjustment information received in the first aspect should include icon information. The icon information specifies the different characteristics of the image quality adjustment.
Third aspect
According to the third aspect, the electronic camera comprises of a display device and display control unit. If the information acquisition unit acquires a plurality of the first image quality adjustment information then it is shown on the display device. It specifies the plurality of the first image quality adjustment information using a minimum of one of the icon information along with the titles of the image quality adjustments.
Fourth aspect
According to the fourth aspect, the display control unit shows information on the display device that defines the characteristics of the image quality adjustment. These characteristics are in correspondence with the first image quality adjustment information that was commanded.
Fifth aspect
According to the fifth aspect, the electronic camera that follows any of the four aspects comprises of an information recording unit. This information recording unit records the first image quality adjustment information on a recording medium.
Sixth aspect
According to the sixth aspect, an electronic camera comprises of an image processing unit, information acquisition unit, the second image quality adjustment information and ID information. The image processing unit performs the image quality adjustment using a plurality of adjustment parameters. The information acquisition unit is acquired from an external device. The second image quality adjustment information includes a parameter group that is used with the image quality adjustment. The ID information specifies the image quality adjustment algorithm that applies to the parameter group and the control unit. The control unit regulates the image processing unit so that it performs the image quality adjustment while applying the parameter group. The second image quality adjustment information contains the parameter group. It is acquired from the image quality adjustment algorithm that corresponds to the ID information included in the second image quality adjustment information.
Seventh aspect
According to the seventh aspect, the electronic camera may comprise of a notification unit. This is simply when the electronic camera doesn’t use any image quality adjustment algorithm that corresponds to the ID information. This ID information is included in the second image quality adjustment information.
Eighth aspect
According to the eighth aspect, the second image quality adjustment information may specify information about its title. It is preferable that this electronic camera comprises of a display device and display control unit. If the information acquisition unit has obtained a plurality of the second image quality adjustment information then the display device shows a list. This list specifies the plurality of the second image quality adjustment information that was acquired by utilizing the titles of the image quality adjustments.
Ninth aspect
According to the ninth aspect, an electronic camera that follows any one of the aspects from sixth to eight may comprise of an information recording unit that stores the second image quality adjustment information upon a recording medium.
Tenth aspect
According to the tenth aspect, the electronic camera also consists of an image processing unit that does image quality adjustment using a parameter group. This parameter group comprises of a plurality of adjustment parameters, display device and display control. It displays a coordinate plane with two predetermined parameters among the parameter group that is set to the image processing unit.
Eleventh aspect
According to the eleventh aspect, the electronic camera works on two parameters of which one is for changing contrast of an image while the second is for changing the saturation of the image. The display control shows a mark on the display device that indicates the parameter group on the coordinate plane.
Twelfth aspect
According to the twelfth aspect, the plurality of the parameter groups is present in the electronic camera when the display control unit shows marks on the display device. These marks indicate each of the parameter groups on the coordinate plane.
Thirteenth aspect
According to the thirteenth aspect, the plurality of the marks may be overlapped on the coordinate plane of the electronic camera. Then, the display control unit shows a mark on the display device that indicates a predetermined parameter group as a priority.
Fourteenth aspect
According to the fourteenth aspect, the display control unit of the electronic camera shows a list on the display device. This list indicates the plurality of parameter groups. It also displays a mark as a priority that specifies a parameter group in the upper position on the list.
Fifteenth aspect
According to the fifteenth aspect, the electronic camera that follows the thirteenth aspect has a display control unit may show a list on the display device. This list specifies the plurality of parameter groups and may also indicate a parameter group that has been commanded on the list.
Sixteenth aspect
According to the sixteenth aspect, the electronic camera should follow any one of the aspects from eleventh to fifteenth. If the electronic camera contains at least one of the predetermined two parameters that are set automatically then, the display control unit shows the mark on the display device. This mark would be displayed in a different mode as compared to the time when the parameter is not set automatically.
